2005 Ford GT
Vehicle Description
C3 is pleased to offer one of the most desirable American made super cars of the modern era, the 2005 Ford GT. In 2002 and in anticipation of The Ford Motor Company's Centennial year, the Ford GT40 concept car was revealed at the North American International Auto Show. Inspired by the original GT40 that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans 4 consecutive times between 1966 and 1969, the GT was released to the public over a 2 model year production run.
The Ford GT program came to life under the oversight of Camilo Pardo (chief designer of the GT) and with the guidance of J Mays and Carroll Shelby. The car began assembly at Mayflower Vehicle Systems (MVS) in Norwalk, Ohio and was painted and continued assembly at Saleen Special Vehicles (SSV) facility in Troy, Michigan. The GT is powered by an engine built at Ford's Romeo Engine Plant in Romeo, Michigan. Installation of the engine and transmission along with seats and interior finishing was handled in the SVT building at Ford's Wixom, Michigan plant.
This 2005 Ford GT is 1 of only 1302 vehicles produced for the 2005MY and comes with all 4 of the available factory options. Those options include Blue Racing Stripes, BBS Wheels, McIntosh Radio & Red Brake Calipers. Powered by a 5.4L DOHC V8 with an Eaton 2300 Lysholm Supercharger, the GT was rated at at 550HP/500LB-FT of Torque. The pairing of a Ricardo 6-Speed manual transmission yielded performance figures that continue to rival modern supercars 20 years after its production.
Performance:
-
Top speed: 205 mph (330 km/h)
-
1⁄4 mile (402 m): 11.8 seconds
-
0–62 mph (0–100 km/h): 3.8 seconds
Belonging to a prominent automotive collector, this GT was sourced from the Jim Taylor collection at the 2022 Broad Arrow auction. Since then it has been very sparingly driven, showing a mere 8,200 miles from new. Along with the 4 factory options shown below this car sports an extremely rare feature, signatures from not only Carroll Shelby but his wife Cleo Shelby as well. Cleo rarely signed cars making this an extremely sought after piece of automotive history. Accompanying this very special example are both sets of keys, factory literature and accessories as well as records from the recent service. Needing nothing except to be enjoyed this GT is ready for its next caretaker.
